For one night in Berlin, Long Gone Are The Old Traditions heads to Paloma with two particularly murky propositions at the top of the bill. West Yorkshire’s Miles J Paralysis has been carving out a strange and increasingly singular space between dub, leftfield house, industrial electronics and northern folklore, with releases on his own Crying Outcast alongside recent outings for Emotional Especial and Mysticisms. His productions carry the bleakness of the moors into the club, all heavy low-end, warped samples and spectral atmospheres, while recent appearances at Leeds’ Outlaws Yacht Club and beyond have been matched by a growing presence on NTS. Joining him live is London’s Samson A.K., a long-running presence around the city’s more unruly underground who has recently stepped further into the light with releases on MAL Recordings, Berceuse Heroique and his own Ideal State imprint. His work moves freely between mutant dancehall, dub, grime, industrial techno and blown-out experimental electronics, with the recent Heavy Birds Drop EP distilling that rough-edged approach into four properly heavyweight club tracks. Also appearing are S. Duality & Dàire Carolan with a selection of spaced dubby sounds and techno as well as newly formed noise/metal band ACHRE opening the night with a selection of noise, chug and more. Expect a suitably strange meeting of dub pressure, broken rhythms, industrial murk and leftfield club music from a crew with little interest in keeping things neatly categorised.
